Do I need to have experience to work at a Boss Shop?

For Shop Technicians, a degree in Diesel Mechanics or experience working on diesel machinery is highly preferred, but not required. All of our Shop Technicians receiving ongoing training to keep them on the leading edge of the diesel repair industry and up-to-date with all TIA certifications.

For Sales Associates, we will train you on your job duties. However cash handling and customer service skills are preferred.

Do I need to supply my own uniform?

Shop Technicians each receive custom Boss Shop pants and shirts as their uniform as well as a Boss Shop bump-cap. Sales Associates receive two custom Boss Shop shirts for their uniform. There is a initial setup charge of $40 to add your name on the shirts.

Are there any benefits offered for Part Time employees?

Yes! We offer a medical plan, 401(k) with a company match, short term disability coverage, a textbook reimbursement program, an employee assistance program and discounts at some of the chain hotels that we are associated with.

How old do I need to be to work at a Boss Shop?

For safety and insurance reasons, we require all Boss Shop employees to be at least 18 years in age.

Are your Boss Shop locations open 24 hours?

Some of our locations are 24 hours while others are not. All Boss Shops offer 24-hour roadside assistance for stranded drivers.

Do I need a valid driver’s license to be a Diesel Technician?

Yes. Our Technicians go out on road calls, which requires a current AND valid driver’s license.

Do I need to supply my own tools?

Shop Technicians are required to provide a basic set of tools, while all specialized tools are provided by Boss Shops. We offer a tool-puchase program for our Shop Technicians to be able to purchase a basic set of tools below full-price and then have it payroll deducted so that is is not such a large initial expense.

Do I need steel toe shoes?

Yes, we offer discounted shoes to Shop Technicians from our official shoe provider.

Do I receive any type of commission?

Yes, both Sales Associates and Shop Technicians are eligible for monthly “spiffs” based on monthly featured products. A sale of the featured product will earn you a commission.
